Ipswich Family Day Care
“Keeping the Family in Childcare”
- Ipswich Family Day Care (IFDC) was established in 1983 and is now a highly respected childcare service. The Scheme is providing quality care every week for 500 Ipswich children, in the homes of 80 care providers located throughout the Ipswich area.
- IFDC is a community-based, not for profit organisation, with parents and care providers included in management, and their views canvassed on decisions that may affect them.
- IFDC care providers and their homes have passed a rigorous assessment process aimed at establishing their suitability to care for children in partnership with their families. They undertake in-service training and have current first aid certificates. All are experienced in childcare and many have formal early childhood qualifications.
- IFDC’s co-ordinating team has 7 qualified and experienced early childhood staff, ensuring that care providers are resourced, trained and up-to-date with current childcare practices. The Scheme is supported by 3 administrative officers.
- IFDC has Playgroup Sessions, Toy Library for care providers and children, Family Resources Library, and car safety seats for use by children while in care.
- IFDC participates in Quality Assurance and is:
- accredited by the National Childcare Accreditation Council;
- funded by the Commonwealth Government;
- licensed by the Qld Dept of Families according to the Child Care Act 2002 &
- Child Care Registration 2003;
- a member of National Family Day Care Council of Australia.
Family Day Care patron and child psychologist, Dr. John Irvine says:
“Why is Family Day Care so important in today’s world? Because good quality childcare supports the healthy survival of children in families. The children of the world are our future.“
